CHAMPAIGN COUNTY BUSINESS EMPOWERED PAC ENDORSES GORDY HULTEN FOR COUNTY EXECUTIVE

CHAMPAIGN, IL (December 6, 2017)—Champaign County’s Business Empowered PAC, a subsidiary corporation of the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce, has voted to endorse Champaign County Clerk Gordy Hulten in the race to be Champaign County’s first elected County Executive.

As part of the endorsement process, County Executive candidates were asked to complete a survey.
Both candidates turned in a survey and were interviewed. The Champaign County Business Empowered PAC board endorses candidates who demonstrate a pro-business mind set and agenda.

For the past six years, Hulten has served as Champaign County Clerk. He previously served on the Champaign City Council. Champaign County’s Business Empowered PAC’s representative noted Hulten’s experience in Champaign County government and his platform as reasons for his endorsement.

“Gordy Hulten has a proven track record as a public servant as our County Clerk which we believe makes him the right choice for County Executive,” said Garret Hill, spokesperson for the Business Empowered PAC. “Hulten’s platform focuses on economic development, including regional economic development with private sector partnerships. This is exactly the type of leadership the business community is looking for in a County Executive candidate. In addition to economic development, his plan to address the struggling county nursing home, create a long term, sustainable facilities maintenance plan and an independently commissioned redistricting process is why we believe he is the right choice to serve as Champaign County’s first elected County Executive. Additionally, he has a vision for how the county can be a leader, a partner and a driving force in our economy and in job creation.”

“I’m grateful for the support of the Champaign County Business Empowered PAC and its volunteers and members,” said Hulten. “I look forward to a partnership as we engage our local job creators in the work of improving County Government and improving its service and efficiency.”

In the summer of 2016, the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and the Champaign County Farm Bureau partnered to reform county government and change to a County Executive form of government. After a successful ballot initiative, Champaign County’s Business Empowered PAC chose to vet and endorse a candidate to help usher in this new form of government. To learn more about the
